The Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea is one of the partners of the project “Sustainable Ports in the Adriatic-Ionian Region” (SUPAIR) cofinanced by the Adriatic-Ionian Programme INTERREG V-B Transnational 2014-2020.

Project objective
SUPAIR addresses Priority Axis 3 (Connected Region) and Specific Objective 3.1 (Enhance capacity for integrated transport and mobility services and multimodality in the Adriatic-Ionian area) and promotes sustainable, low-carbon and environment-friendly transport and mobility solutions in a network of ports in the Adriatic-Ionian region. SUPAIR acts primarily on enhancing competencies, skills and know-how of technical officers in port authorities and empowering the main political, technical, trade stakeholders and partners in decision-making processes to increase and improve the level of capacity of the ports and the other territorially-relevant organizations and institutions to plan and implement sustainable and multimodal transport and mobility solutions.

Within SUPAIR project the Port Authority of Trieste will elaborate a Low Carbon Port Action Plan outlining the initiatives to be taken in view of an increasingly attention paid to environmental protection through the decarbonisation of the port’s activities. In particular, the Port will focus on pre-investment studies for the later implementation of “cold ironing” initiatives on its berths, thereby abiding by the obligations set in Directive 2014/94/EC on the deployment of Alternative Fuels Infrastructure.
